Speaking of angels....wanted to add this

I don't believe in luck...and luck sure is no lady as so many claim to have 'bad luck'. I prefer to believe God is on the throne and in control. He sends forth his angels to minister to us.
Heb 1:14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

Their relation to the believer is that of "ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation", and this ministry has reference largely to the physical safety and well-being of believers. (1Ki_19:5); (Psa_34:7); (Psa_91:11); (Dan_6:22); (Mat_2:13); (Mat_2:19); (Mat_4:11); (Luk_22:43); (Act_5:19); (Act_12:7-10). (From the Scofield references.)

I have to add this (also from Scofield):
The angels observe us; (1Co_4:9); (Eph_3:10); (Ecc_5:6); a fact which should influence conduct.
If everyone thought they were being watched would some of them change what they are doing???

Ever see the TV ad for some cell phone company and the guy looks behind him and there are all these phone people 'with him where ever he goes' to provide service for his cell phone?

Imagine...each of us has our own entourage of angels 'with us'. Cool eh?

psalm 91 it states they shall take charge over us....bear us up in thier hands lest we dash our foot against a stone (Thanks for this reference Dobbie)
That is the verse Satan used against Jesus when Jesus went into the wilderness to be tempted.

Mat 4:6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Thought maybe it would be nice to put 2 and 2 together (Psalm 91 and Mat 4:6) in case some wondered where Satan said 'it is written' and wondered where it was 'written'.

I once read of a story of a missionary and his family in a foreign country. The tribe they were trying to reach for God was going to kill them later that night when they slept. The missionary and his family heard of the plan to kill them and they stayed inside the place they were living and prayed. They prayed all night to God. The next morning no attack had taken place. They looked outside and the tribe was outside and had surrounded the house but did not attack. Finally the missionary went outside and talked to the chief of the tribe. He told the chief he had heard that the tribe was going to attack them and kill them in their sleep last night, yet they didn't. The chief replied that that was in fact what they were going to do. They planned to kill them in their sleep. The missionary asked why then had they not done as they planned. The chief said when they arrived they had found the missionaries home surrounded by very large, very bright warriors who they feared. Because of them we did not attack and kill you. It is also because of them we want to know more of the God you serve for He surely protected you from us. Your God is Great.

Thanks, Pete, for posting the Word of God and I have heard that story about the missionaries, also! The Bible also says, That the angels won't go where they fear to tread, so if we are in sin and in darkness, they aren't there to protect us unless lots of prayers have gone up to God by the faithful prayer warriors! Prayers keep our lost children and loved ones protected, providing we faithfully pray for their protection and for their needs to be met! But if they stay unsaved then finally God will let them go their own way, for He won't always strive with man!

Thanks again and hope all is well and going okay with you, Sherry, family and animals! Praying for you and yours!

God Bless!
Betty

I have not heard the story you told till i just read it. WOW..it brought chills (the good kind) and tears to me. What a wonderful testimony of faith and Gods protection. Thank you sharing it. It is one I will share with others.

Billy Graham's 1975 Angels: God's Secret Agents contained this story: (My memory was not totally accurate - but close enough - I think)

The Reverend John G. Paton, pioneer missionary in the New Hebrides Islands, told of a thrilling story involving the protective care of angels. Hostile natives surrounded the mission headquarters one night, intent on burning the Patons out and killing them. John Paton and his wife prayed all during that terror-filled night that God would deliver them. When daylight came they were amazed to see that, unaccountably, the attackers had left. They thanked God for delivering them.

A year later, the chief of the tribe was converted to Jesus Christ, and Mr. Paton, remembering what had happened, asked the chief what had kept him and his men from buring down the house and killing them. The chief replied in surprise, "who were all those men you had with you there?" The missionary answered, "There were no men there; just my wife and I." The chief argued that they had seen many men standing guard - hundreds of big men in shining garments - with drawn swords in their hands. They seemed to circle the mission station so that the natives were afraid to attack. Only then did Mr. Paton realize that God had sent His angels to protect them. The chief agreed that there was no other explanation.
