I sent Garrett an email yesterday with some questions. I must admit I wasn't expecting a reply. Here is the email

I am sending these posts from my phone, a bit more difficult as the phone doesn't let me edit as well as the computer. Anyway here goes. I got the above email from Garrett within 24 hours of sending my questions. I think that was a great response time and raises my faith in Garrett as a company. I hope it answer some of the concerns that peole have raised in the forum.

Thanks joemac for the update. I'm glad to see Garrett will be addressing the issues brought up here. Just a thought on the head phone jack as this seems to be a "real" concern from some of the owners, is why not go wireless then. Incorporate the transmitor inside the box so it would be flush on the outside, or maybe a 90 degree head phone jack to reduce the risk of damage to it.

Wireless would be wonderful as long as the wireless connection would remain connected when the box is put underwater and the headphones were waterproof also. I know a few that swing the CTX3030 and as soon as their box goes underwater they loose the connection. Most have gone to the Gray Ghost headphones. I personally recommend the Amphibians for use with the ATX, ATPro and Infinium detectors. The one model works with all three machines plus the ATGold. One post from down under shows a cable with 90 degree AT-series audio connectors. I am still looking for a source of 90 degree waterproof connectors.

Some very good points brought up their Water Walker. As you mentioned I can see they would have to be water proof for sure. I here good things about Gray Ghost headphones but I have never used them personally.

I'm sure others (as myself) would be very interested if you could find that 90 degree audio connector for the ATX.

ATX has gone very quiet here in Aussie land. What few stories I have heard from the gold fields have mostly been dissatisfaction with drifting in the non motion mode and the GB not coping as well as hoped.
But as I said, they are hearsay stories.
