Spur Of The Moment Hunt Was Worth It

Had to go to another nearby town to pick up a battery for my IH706, and the trip took me right past a school that I'd never been to, so I decided to make the trip a scouting mission. It turned out to be a pretty good idea. Along with the usual $1.70 or so in modern clad & copper, I also dug 4 coins as old or older than I am, and a fleet of various modes of transportation.

She's an "S"! The scarecest '43.....only 60.4 million minted.

Pick your ride. Plane? Boat? Car?

It was an interesting hunt. TID's were all over the place on deep targets, and generally higher than usual on shallower ones. I'll go back sometime when I get over that way again, 'cause the town is old (county seat) and I believe that there could be some older stuff yet to find.

Congrat's on the nice old coins. If I was you I would be back there the first chance I get. I bet their is a lot more old coins to be found there.

Some places no matter what you do to the GB or Sen your going to have TID's jumping all over the place and that's why those coins are still in the ground. A lot of ppl wait until they get a perfect signal before they dig, not me I dig iffy deep signals and some times it pay's off :)

Nice finds for a spare of the moment hunt! I'm still waiting on my first silver.
I sort of skipped silver and went straight to gold. Cape Cod has yielded good finds
for me once with a rented detector and this year with a borrowed one. Landed a nice
men's wedding band about 8.5 gram of 14kt this year and a boyscout pin from 1912.

Niiice!!!

Great pictures and sweet finds.Love the mercurys..
Sounds like a great place for some serious detecting.Advanced maybe.

Was out today on a empty beach.A few clads and a older ring was what the ground had to offer, but then again it was nice just the same.

Silver is always good to find. And finding coins older than we are is a bonus! Unfortunately, for some of us, those "older" coins have to "go back farther" than they do for some of you.
Seriously, you had a great "spur of the moment" hunt. And I'm betting you'll be back there before the snow flies. Well done! HH Randy
