spurious signals with the Vaquero

I was hunting this weekend at my usual hunting grounds with my daughter who was using a Bounty Hunter Tracker IV. I hate to say this but she found a standing liberty half dollar from 1939 right next to me! She has also found a silver ring and cross while I have only found 1 silver dime! However, I found pennies that were too deep for her to detect! But that is not why I posted. I seem to be getting a lot of spurious beeps that are not strong, and when I dig, I find nothing. It had rained fairly recently, and I am wondering if this occurs if there is a layer of wetter soil below dry soil. The soil here has a lot of clay. I have been running either super-tuned or close to 10 and usually with high DISC. Any comments are welcome.

You could be picking up super deep iron.Be falsing from to much sensitivity setting with changing ground conditions.Sounds like your daughter did pretty good with the Bounty Hunter.Could you get her to show you about the Vaquero?

I'm actually curious about this as well because it was happening to me earlier today while hunting an old area that was pretty trashy. I would turn disc down to see if it would pick up those beeps easier, but it would still act the same...i would try turning sensitivity down a little and still no difference. The 5.75 coil still seemed to not be able to pick through the trash all that well. I might have to just start clearing stuff out

try backing the sens down a little that helps me I try to run mine about 9.5 or so

I think we all start out thinking full bore sensitivity and or super tuning has to be the way to go. I've found that much of the time I'm better off with a bit less than full sensitivity with smoother operation and still get good depth on most targets.
