Squalling SD?

HI all: While trying a new coil with no internal shielding my SD2200d detector went crazy. Squalling like a banshee. Had to shut it off to get it to stop before it self destructed. Has anyone ever had the ground ballance memory fill up or am I the only one this has happened to? Have any of you heard of this happening? Thanks, Clark PS, It worked fine when restarted with a shielded coil.
