Squirrels swim rather well.

Fishing I see squirrels coming from the other side of the river, and leaving this side to the far shore. It is a good 300+ yards to the other side, pretty funny watching them swim without getting their heads or tails wet, current wise they end up WAY down river before dry land.

squirrels can fly too, well glide, like flying squirrels [these look like chipmunks] If you run up a single tree with no other limbs to get away, they will jump off & glide, their legs & tail will flare out like wings
They make cool pets too.

Early in fatherhood in-order to keep my youngest ones awake I would yell out that a “woods cougar” crossed the road. It was just a grey squirrel and by the time they sat up it was gone. But, they stayed awake and slept good back home…..

Mice swim also. I had a little guy jump into a bird seed bucket. Let him go 5 times and he kept coming back. Will see if he makes his way back from the park I walk my dog at. If he does I will let him live in the house with me quite little smart beautiful creature. We can sit and watch jeopardy together while I feed him peanuts.

Back in the early 60's I watched a chipmunk swim across a pond, almost made it and a huge large mouth grabbed it and stripped the hair off his tail,he then finished the journey to shore hairless tail and all.

I had a flying squirrel that lived in a bird house. I could walk up to him and rub his wiskers. Nice fellow . He left or died nature's way.

Maybe we will all find our place in life . Joe hasn't but it doesn't matter that much. Next time he is done and shouldn't even think about it. As an old man I couldn't even conceive another run
