Standing Lib blows me away

Hard to believe but I dug a standing Liberty quarter - got it in a school playground under pea gravel and then under hard packed dirt. In my 30 years detecting this is only the 3 rd or 4 th one I have dug. I find it hard to believe it was carried to school from grandpa's collection because it's in such poor shape. As you can see no date visible under the figure. Maybe it was there when they scraped the ground which brought it closer to the surface. That's my wife's solution - sounds good.
Also got a 925 pendant with a green Peridot stone, non precious gun and a Tucson soccer shoot out token.

Total take was 83 coins, a Ducati uncleaned cycle and a spark plug socket. Mid 90's this morning so it wasn't too bad.

Also, for old west people - the old time cowboys called the Stand lib quarter a "Cowboy" quarter. If you put your thumb over the eagle upside down it looks just like a pair of chaps :)

Never heard of that one but I like it. Congrats my friend on some nice digs!

Nice finds Steve and I like the Silver Peridot Pendant...never heard the story on the Standing Liberty quarter before but never too old to learn something new! May God keep on blessing with the goodies and less heated days...sure been hot and humid here though! WHEW!!!! Ma Betty

is the low humidity we usually have. That makes it somewhat bearable. I did have my sweatband on by 7:30 today tho, Steve

neat finds!!! probably an old farmsite?

you are right on - it is an old farm site. The school was built on it but all around there's still farm lands, Steve
