Starter package

If a person purchased just the starter package with the WS4 headphones, what exactly do you give up over the the control module? Is it just the ability to do updates? I read also some expert functions, but being new not sure what all would be missed there.

You would be unable to save programs, make changes to reactivity, or get into any of the expert modes. I have the control and would not buy the machine without it.

You will definetly need the remote and need it to learn full capabilities of this Deus.
I have only 10 hours on the Deus and am only hunting with WS 4 headphones and
trying to learn the tones. I use the remote at home just scrolling and learning all
the functions and settings.Do yourself a favor and if you BUY, Get the REMOTE
or you'll be SORRY!!! JMHO

Yeah , you have to have the remote.
Maybe you can just buy the coil and the remote , then gets some earbuds and mount the coil to an old set of crutches or a broom handle

Sounds like the consensus is the full package, just wondering why they even offer the starter package if it won't get the job done. Thanks all this is helping me to make the right decision.

For the same reason you were asking. Some people like to piece it together and spread out the price which is fine. It will get the job done but you won't get the best possible experience or capabilities without it. The stock programs work very good. I would not buy it without it just because after having it there is no question

You can get by without the headphones more so than the remote, in fact I use my
wired headphones quite often for outside noise, I wouldn't go without the remote

If you already own a 4 or 5 package with the remote and get the starter package you end up with two full function detectors.
Great flexibility for a couple or a family , although I can see an argument brewing over who gets the display.
How may coils can a single remote program?
