Wanted to share this with someone. Yesterday I wanted to see how the new year was going to treat me.
Found 42 coin- 4 wheat and the silver cross. Went today and found 44 clad and the standing liberty quarter. Hope this is a sign of things to come. <img src="/metal/html/grin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":grin"> <img src="/metal/html/grin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":grin"> <img src="/metal/html/grin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":grin">

in those photo shop programs. LOL I haven't even totally figured out the one that came with my new Pentax Optio camera. I'm a trial and error person on that stuff.
What I did:
I saved the pic and then opened it with a program that came loaded on my computer called Corel photo house. You can resize, crop or whatever you want with that program. On this one I checked the image properties and saw it was 600 dpi which is much finer resolution than needed on the web (70 dpi is fine). Lots of ways to get around that, I chose to reduce the dpi to around 300 which cuts down the file size and makes the picture smaller at the same time. I then reduced file size further by using the optimize for Web option which lets you dial in any amount of compression you want. On this one I think I went for a file size of around 20KB which is about what a normal size pic at 70 dpi would come in around.
I could have resized the pic to a smaller dimension (in inches) leaving it at 600 dpi and then optimized the file size for web posting. Lots of ways to get around the big pics and file sizes. I learned by trial and error so I'm not really one to ask when it comes to this stuff. LOL

Hi Tom and thanks for the hints on resizing. My camera is down and these are scans. I just preview,
crop, and scan. Have'nt figured out why they come
out so big. Not really a computer person. Thanks again and HH Pat

When you make the first scan check at the top of the screen for an option tab that allows you to adjust the dpi. For the WEB 75 dpi is plenty of resolution. There should also be settings for picture size, either a zoom percentage or size in inches or both. Try them until you come up with a good size for posting.

Thanks Tom. I'm not sure I'm doing it right, but just transfering it from PhotoShop to PhotoStudio helps. HH Pat
