Starting the year off with a new days record total! :super:

Our previous highest total for one day was $68, but today my wife and I set out with a goal of not only beating that amount, but figured "what the heck, let's shoot for a hundred bucks!". After hitting 5 different locations and about eight hours later, we did it! Our total for the day ----> $103.87!!! (That's Australian dollars, but works out to about $81 US). My wife found a nice silver ring and I found 2 junk rings and an 1886 British Penny. All I can say is, Thank God for $1 and $2 coins. Out of that total, $95 was in $1's and $2's!
We are tired.

Something kinda funny also happened. I guess the little town we were in doesn't see too many people metal detecting. A father and daughter (about 10 yrs old) were walking down the side of the road across from where we were getting our gear out of the car and the girl was so busy watching what we were doing, she walked right into a power pole and whacked her head pretty hard. Her dad had to hold onto her and hug her while she cried. I felt kinda bad, but after it was apperent that she was ok, it was hilarious. I know it sounds sort of mean, but I've always been a fan of slapstick.

The years off to a pretty good start! (We found over $63.00 yesterday at some of those same places!)

Cheers,
Toby.

Great Day !
I' wish the US would go back to a Large Dollar coin. Not the quarter sized ones they've tried but a Large one like the Morgan. Even if it was clad it would feel nice to have some in your pocket. The feel of a large coin:thumbup:

HI Toby,

It looks like a great day out, some of the parks are like walking on a carpet of $1 and $2 coins, my best for the day was back in April last year with $83 from a small patch of lawn in a park, the odd thing about it, I went back to the same patch in November last year and picked up another $73, it seems to grow in this patch.
I can't wait for Johnny to get us into $5 coins, I just hope he makes them small enough to hide in the grass.

All the best......Boony
