Found this and thought it was an arcade token until your post.
 
...doesn't look like it's currency of any kind but I thought it was interesting that the Spanish crest was used. Don't know what the letter "VB" mean in the crown and haven't been able to find one like it anywhere. As Mike asks, what state did you find it in? Any other clues? Is it aluminum?
