SteveG, switched the F75 LTD coils with the 8000 coils

As you requested, I did more testing. Used both coils on each machine. 10" from 8000 and 11" from 75.

Although they both seemed to work on either machine. Numbers were very erratic and lots of "noise". I wouldn't recommend hunting this way but it could be done.

Hope that helps some.

Erratic numbers, and noisy, eh Bart? That's great information to know; guess that's why Fisher advises you to buy coils specific to your machines. That puts to rest any thoughts I had about the possibility of "mixing" coils.

Thanks so much for your time, in doing these tests!

Sometimes things can work, might not be the best decision or work well, but they can work. About '77 I stopped in a small town cafe for an early breakfast on the way out deer hunting on opening morning. One fellow grabbing a bite was grumbling. He was ready for the hunt to start in less than 2 hours, but when he grabbed his gear he forget his ammo.

He usually got his deer early on the opener as he knew some farm sites where he got very close-range shots. He asked what I used and then asked to borrow (have, naturally) a couple of rounds for my .30-30. "Those will work," he said. He used a Winchester 94 in .32 Spl.

A bit roomy going down the barrel and not a lot of help with stability and accuracy, but he figured it was better than just yelling 'Bang!' and most deer were in the 30' to 60' range. Similar, a poor coil choice might work, sort of, but not work well..
