Still finding good ones

I've been using my Wife's Ace 250 for a while to get to know it better so I could give her some training on it. Today I rescued an 1882 Indian Cent. Took it from a bluff overlooking the Illinois River that was a camp site in the woods. I've found other good coins here and other places but have been going back to my old haunts because I found out my Fisher CZ7-a Pro was not detecting on edge coins over one inch away from the coil. This Indian was on edge at five inches depth. Please check your detector for slanted and on edge coins, I have lost many to friends who found good coins behind me that had to be on edge. Also check out any flat overlook sites that could be hunters camp sites in the woods near you ( Public or Permission accessible ) to see if good things were left. Remember, shaking out a blanket or sleeping bag can fling a coins a few feet away and usually down the slanted hillside from the camp site on any bluff. Seven times I have found this so. Yes, I hunt the woods by preferences.. To think I spent four times the money on that Fisher and this great Ace 250 runs rings around it. To be truthful, the Fisher can get another inch depth but how many coins are going to be in that extra depth compared to the on edge coins I have missed in the two plus inch range. I'm also looking at the difference of a 10 inch coil on the fisher and a 6X8 on the Garrett. Thank you Mr. Garrett, this is an awesome detector. And to think, you have better models available, thinking Birthday Present.....

Wait till you get a 12 incher on that 250. I field tested the CZ 7a Pro when it first came out years ago and at the time I thought it was one helluva detector - but the 250 is full of surprises and will blow many higher priced machines away.
