Still liking that 5x8DD on the AtPro

Had my AtPro for about 6 months. It was a Christmas present from me! Then I got the 5X8 DD the 1st of May, which is my birthday. (I like getting my own presents!) Below are some of the finds I have made with the 5X8 DD since I started using it. Not that there's anything wrong with the 8.5x11 DD, I was finding silver and other stuff with it too. I just seem to prefer swinging the smaller coil. Maybe there's hope "Bigger is not always better":clapping:

Lots of nice coin find in the silver.

Sweet silver finds! What kind of depth did you get tose coins at?

Most of the coins I find in my area are in the 3 to 4 inch range. Occasionally, I will find them in the 5 to 6 inch range. I dig things deeper, but not usually coins. The soil here ground balances at about 79 to 82. I am learning the pro sounds and vdi numbers. When I hear that sweet mellow hi tone and the vdi indicates 83 to 84 and the depth meter, in pinpoint, is 3 to 6 inches, I begin thinking silver dime and when I hear a mellow mid tone with a pretty constant 51 vdi I think, well here's another nickel. And you know, usually, I'm right.

Way to go on the silver. What kind of sensetivity levels are you running at? I've only been out with my ATG two times but looking forward to some silver finds.

I usually run it at full throttle. Occasionally, I set it back a couple of notches if it chatters a little while I'm digging. I have read on this forum about maybe too much sensitivity can actually work against you. I have experimented some with the sensitivity and on some of my deeper finds, have turned the sensitivity down until I no longer get a response which usually gets the sensitivity down half way. I run in Pro mode, zero discrimination, sometimes coin mode and iron disc at 35 and usually have iron audio off and just switch it on to check some targets or run it on in less iron infested areas. In most areas, with the iron audio on, it is constantly giving the iron tone signals.

Congrats, you're making some nice finds with that 5x8 coil.:detecting:

Love those Mercs! I'm looking forward to getting a 5x8 (with an AT Gold attached to it) once Bart gets 'em back in stock!

That 5x8 does the job. I found a 1950 quarter,a Mercury dime,7 wheaties a buffalo nickel and a lawnmower redesigned silver ring. The best find was a 1913 V nickel hidden amongst a bunch of nails. I hit a solid 52-53 VDI at 6". I came at it from 360 and kept getting a solid 52-53. I turned on my iron disc and started getting iron growls. I decided to dig it anyway. Cut out a 6x6 plug 6" deep and got vibrations all around the hole and the plug. Lifted out a handful of dirt and quickly found 3 nails, dug out another handful and got 2 more nails and a 1913 V nickel. I left no vibrations in that plug so I'm assuming I got what was there. To find that nickel amongst all those nails made me pause and say you are one find little coil.

With my 5x8 coil on my Pro i got close to 500 coins since xmas, all up to 5 inches deep, most close to 1 inch deep.
Did air test a few weeks ago, got video on this forum somewhere. that air test i not getting much depth, 6 inches for Pro with that coil and 8 inches for AT Gold with that coil.
So went back to my "Hunted out area" found in past few weeks another 90 coins their that are 6 to 10 inches deep. My ground balance for Pro is around 84 to 90 and the sensitivity is one notch of full.
I did like using the 5x8, it sniffs out coins in relic ghost towns that are full of rusty tin and trash with ease so now i using the 11 inch coil all the time unless i hit a really high trash area.

IT WAS NOT A 1913 V nickel is was a 1910 . My ole eyes failed me. I just happened to look up the value of a 1913, ran down to my finds jar and took a second look, because if it had been a 1913 I would have left a trail all the way back up the stairs. WHEW!!!! so close but yet so far.

Still a great find!

Nice finds! I have the Sniper coil, bought it a year ago and never even tried it out. Been eyeing that 5x8 though...might have to pick one up.
