Still love those mercs

Started out slow last night , digging a lot of junk in a sandy area...then I moved to a different area of this yard and found a couple mercs , a wheatie , and a strange Chinese coin...after over thirty years of detecting , I still love seeing them mercs pop out of the ground ...

Nice hunt ! The chinese coin almost looks like silver too ..

It is made of Aluminum and I bet it has a 1 on the front.

I read a tad more about it and interesting enough sometimes they where used as weights as they weigh 1 gram and will not break the surface tension of water.
I noticed a pic of it floating in water (rather interesting).
The date is below the number 1 on the obverse and it is written in Kanji.
The tree on the reverse is a young tree to symbolize the prosperous growth of Japan.

Correct..it is not silver...way to light for that...thanks for the follow up...did u know what years these were Monter? I did find it rather close to the mercs..so I spilled guess the thirties or fourties ...thanks shin for the info ..yes it does have a big one one the other side...
