Still the best overall detector I ever used... T2....

Elton

New member
I have used many Brands of detectors..bought and sold several T2 units.. "BUT" always missed it the moment I went hunting. So I bought a new one (T2)..Read all the hype about different latest releases and sold and tried different ones. Missed the T2.. So bought a 6.5..wow the best I have ever used for coin hunting. BAR NONE.

Depth, stability. comfortable swinging for hours, Old coins hit at really really good depths.Coins on edge..coins mutilated for some reason or the other, it makes no difference the T2 finds them, and finds them deep...... So I traded a like brand new MXT for another T2 straight up.. (New In the Box) 6.5...This one is even better than the last one I use and own.. It's more stable, deeper..and I love it. If your looking for a very good deep stable machine Think about trying a T2..You may, like me, find it is the best machine for you too.Add the 5" DD coil..it's like having two machines. There is no place you can't use it either..

It seems like there are many different detectors that's suitable for everyone, or someone. I found mine. The T2.......I expect to order a new SE T2 by next spring or the latest F/T comes out with............ I searched detectors, and bought detectors for years looking for the one I liked. Once I found it, it put the pleasure back in detecting. No more going out and not really enjoying what I was doing. Every time is a pleasure, and every time I learn something more I like about the T2......Now in my opinion that's what detecting is about..The Hobby the enjoyment.the finds are nice too, But it's become more than that for me over the years.. Everyone have a nice week.and great Holiday Season

Neat post Elton. I know you love your T 2's and if FT doesn't come out with something new for coin shooting, like a beefed up Omega,:) I may give one a try again myself. I, though, am really sold on the Omega for coin hunting. I've got and had deeper detectors, but for pure coin hunting, the Omega is outstanding. I like that, go off to school with your T 2 in tow, get a break between classes and go out and find 2 Mercury dimes. I'll let you explain that my friend. Good luck if you get another break between classes. HH jim tn

Elton i purchased the regular T2 about 8 months ago and love the detector. It is the 6.5 version.
Last week i purchased the T2 special edition and i am very impressed here is why..
I got a 1870 british general service button at approx 14 inches the other day.Deepest hole i ever dug..In boost mode..
I have powerlines running through the back of the farm and the regular T2 jumped around alot with false vdi readings no matter what adjustment i tried...
The T2 special edition barely needs any adjustment around them..Maybe lower sens and bump up the disc a little.
Also out by the road near those electrical lines the T2 se is much more stable...
Also the boost mode is best in none trashy areas,
There is an advantage when using the boost mode in trashy areas with the small coil you can get a good target identification with short, slow swing speeds..
Let me add that is in the manual and have not tried that yet..
A T2 Se should be in every mans arsenal of detectors..

Amen. I have two T2 SE's and that is all I use now. I've used all brands and the T2 SE is by far the best machine I've owned.

Someone asked about the T2 vs F75 in the limited or special edition models. They are similar in performance but they are different in the settings and options that are available. The T2 has a higher iron range in discrim (0-40) vs the F75 (0-15) which gives the T2 the advantage in iron sites in my opinion. One option I like on the T2 SE is that you can vary the sensitivity while in pinpoint. It defaults to 60 but you can max it out if you want. Comes in handy when using a detector mounted pinpointer. You can get better depth from your pinpointer when trying to find a target in the hole. The F75 SE doesn't have that feature. The T2 SE doesn't remember your settings but it isn't a big deal. It is so user friendly that it takes less than a minute to reset the machine to what you last had it set at.

The F75 SE remembers your last settings, allows you to choose your tones in boost, has the notch feature, and has a higher discrim range for conductive targets. The T2 SE has none of that. I own both, use both, and prefer the T2 SE overall.

I agree with Jim tn. I am content with my Omega after having had a T2 for three years (for coin hunting). You know, I don't think the T2 I had (v 6) got great depth on coins. The first weekend I hunted with my Omega I found coins 6" and 7" deep, which might have done a couple of times with my T2. I am not saying the T2 isn't as deep or deeper on coins, but I think that older version wasn't. My deepest coin on the Omega were probably just under 8" and I'm sure the T2 will do that and of course beyond. I don't miss how noisy my T2 was, damn was it great to have the detector operating at max sensitivity and mostly quiet - first time out and ever since with my Omega.

Oh, and the Omega simply does astounding in iron. (At least when the ground isn't saturated with water.)

I wonder if Teknetics isn't letting on to how much they changed with the T2 V6.5 as they might have a bunch of unhappy T2 V 6 users on their hands?

I do miss the feel of the T2 over the Omega. It's just a better built machine. I also liked the trigger, alot. As others have said, Teknetics will (had better!) come out with a high end coin machine next year or something might come along in it's place. Really looking forward to an Omega LTD (well, really a top end coin machine, more than just a "Ltd".)
