Stock Coil or 8" Coil on saltwater beaches

Which seems to work better on the saltwater beaches?
I have both the stock and the Minelab 8" coil for my Explorer II. I'm asking because the Excalibur is sold with either the 8" or 10" coil. I know that the Excalibur coils are different than the Explorer coils but there must be a reason why they sell the Excaliber as an 800 or a 1000. Same principle applies? Smaller coil for higher trash areas?

Basically larger coils give much more coverage which is great for large areas such as a beach. Usually smaller coils work better for trashy areas as they reduce masking..and larger coils cover more area and should go deeper. Always give and takeaways, but many have several acc. coils to handle all situations.
