Storing/Mounting Dug Large Cent

Guys,

I was wondering how people are displaying or mounting Old Coppers to prevent further damage that what time has already done. At this point in time I have them laying on a towel in a display case but was wondering what other people are doing? I am a little afraid of mounting them in a sleeve but I am open to any thoughts. Thanks
 
Before thinking of mounting the coin, I'd take the time to 'stabilize' it first. Copper/bronze coins that are in the earth for a long time have been 'protected' from oxygen, for the most part. When the coin hits the air, I've seen them literally start decomposing before my eyes. Which is why I carry a small container filled with water - the
coin(s) stay there until I get home.
Clean the coin with water and an old toothbrush, dry it, then quickly coat it with Vaseline. Look at it now and then, and you may still see it drying out...so coat with more Vaseline. Eventually it will stabilize, when you can wipe the excess coating off.
Re. mounting, I think you need to avoid 2X2's that are made of PVC - maybe others can help here.
