I picked the worst possible line of work. A CNC Machinist. It involves my worst subject, TOO much Math. Not just any math, but algebra, trigonometry and such. I might as well be reading hyroglyphics! It seems every day these numbers haunt me. Any ideas on a practical way to study at home? Any books to self teach? Or pray I'll wake up with a new brain. Its hard to work at something your not comfortable with, and I really would love to learn this stuff.

something you just might have to wade through. Prayer will definitely help, Steve

But sometimes its so deep my nose gets wet.

study and learn what you need to know for your job. He will guide, direct and give you wisdom to do exactly what is needed by leaning and trusting in Jesus and listening to the leading of God's Holy Spirit. He will give you the desires of your heart if you will ask and desire to learn and know Mathematics & etc. Jesus never fails so trust, trust, trust, seek, seek seek & find, find, find! God is always true to His Word!
God Bless!

It can pick the points and tell you X,Y and Z co-ordinates so you don't have to do the math. Even if it doesn't generate a CAM file it could still provide with this information and speed up production. I'm a CAD designer and it drives me nuts to see how much can be done by the tools we have and don't utilize them. Not a criticizm of you but those that have those tools and don't know or share them. I've suggested things for years that don't get implemented or some other person brings it up 6 months later and why didn't I come up with that if I'm so all-fired good at what I do? Hope you can get it all worked out.
Paul

I'm sure it is an option. The machines I program and run are older ones, One has a G.E Fanuc control, the other is a retrofited G.E. Neither of which has CAD. Our shop does some extremly precise stuff allowing only a 10th of a thousands tolerance sometimes. We get the stuff nobody else want to take the time to do. We were told by a custom competition rifle maker that we were problably the best custom machine shop in the country. I don't know about that. Sometimes my patience wears thin as it takes days sometimes to set up the tooling.
