Ok heres my problem,If I run disc at 15 or lower and no matter what sens its on, detector runs quiet and stable,If I raise disc to 20 or higher its a total barage of beeps and clicks until i turn sens all the way down to about thirty. Is this normal?needs repair or what?Basically all i can hunt is with iron reject and thats it!

Help

Brian

Has it always done this? or all of a sudden? I dunno check batteries, connection to coil, emi prob maybe???

Could be an issue with "Notch"... I had the same issue once and determined I had Notched out iron, but was accepting it with disc...
My F75 was a chattering son-of-a-gun until I performed the reset below...

Perform a factory reset:
1. Turn detector off
2. Press-and-hold the red MENU button and push-forward-and-hold the TOGGLE SWITCH
3. Turn the detector on, while you are still holding the controls
4. Release the MENU button and TOGGLE SWITCH
5. See the F symbol. When the F disappears, the detector is reset.

FYI: Notch will always display "1" and not "0" even after performing the reset above...

Hope this resolves your issue...

bought it used and its always done it since ive had it,already done the factory reset and didnt help at all.does it with air test or actually hunting???

Just went out back with mine and it does the same thing... All was very quiet at disc of 20, but a disc of 21 started the chatter... There are several settings that cause a gain boost or lack of boost... I usually go for the gain boost with lower disc settings and lower sens as I don't mind hearing the iron...

Doesn't the manual cover that? below 8 and above 23 (I think) uses a different filter. This thing really killz when you can run 99 sens and 0 disc. If you're getting EMI (like often happens in a yard), you'll have to run between 8 - 23 disc. Do some air testing when you're in a quieter place and you'll see what I mean.

I just tested this indoors and anything below 6 makes the detector go crazy. Also dropping the Notch off on 1 does it too.
How do you hunt like that?

I usually fire up the F75 and immediately set disc to "0"... Then change the sens to a setting where the chatter is minimal (not completely gone)... Set tones to 4H... Then GB and kill the coins in yards, parks, and empty lots... Even with a sens setting of 20, the F75 hits an 8" silver dime in my test bed loud and clear... Can't wait to get the 5" DD for the extreme trash...

You would think they couldve put all that in the manual, lol.so basically set your disc where u feel u want it then adjust with sens? that bascially the answer?

Couldn't have said it better... Sure would have been nice to have that information in the manual... From the multiple posts on multiple forums I've read, this seems to work well for many including myself... The F75 is one powerful unit and you have to put reins on her most of the time...

This is happening because a disc setting above 20 or below 6 (I'm not 100% on that #, but try lowering the sensitivity until it starts to chatter and you'll see what # it is) puts the 75 into an extra sensitivity mode.

I confirmed the disc setting on Tom Dankowski's site:

Disc settings of 5 - 20 are reduced depth/sensitivity settings, but in trade for better/more stable operation.
