stripping down an explore2

Neilo

New member
Has anyone ever stripped down an explorer2 and chest mounted it. I have a spare detector shaft and coil extension lead, but am not sure how to strip the detector down to seperate the battery compartment from the main control panel, does anyone have any pictures of one stripped down?.The main problem with me is the weigth of the detector is getting too much for me as I am getting older.I already use a shoulder harness and bungy cord but even them I can only detect for a couple of hours so I am looking for a lighter alternative. hope someone can help seeya Neilo

Nielo, I've managed to chest mount the Explorer control box. There's been a few versions around. All pretty good.

For me , it makes the viewing of the LCD easier.

You can also make it relatively water proof for wading up to your chest but not immersed in water for long periods with a minimal of materials like urathene or silicone sealant, (for a diving unit, it needs a more careful and thorough waterproofing and maybe a new box to house it in).

It's relatively easy BUT, it's a little "fiddly".

This link will give you instructions on stripping it down.
It's a good start and should help. The pictures seem not available from the website.

If you want, send me your email address and I will send on the pics relative to the link.
