I just get my Deus today. I was able to figure out most of the assembly accept for one issue. How do you mount the strap on the arm cuff? I feel really dumb, I have tried for about an hour and cannot figure it out. Thanks

True. You don't need it. It's a haste to have keep undoing the strap when you lay the detector down to dig a target. Stick it back in the box and forget about it.

I have never Not used the strap on my old detectors I used but of course those weighed 5+ lbs.

Is is fine to not sure the strap since it it so light?

I think I would be one to still use the strap regardless as it would give you more control and faster swing if desired.

Keep meaning to put the strap on the arm cuff...
After all, the detector did come with one
Ah, forget it. The thing is so light and easy to swing I just don't need it and I'm too lazy to dig out the box and fiddle with the strap even I could find it.
You will likely have the same experience and save your time for diggin' instead of riggin'.
Good luck!
Cheers

Hi, I use my strap all of the time. I had gotten comfortable using them with many of the other detectors I have had in the past. I usually just slide my arm through and under the strap each time; it can be a little of a pain with a coat on, then I have to loosen the velcro and re-tighten. To mount the strap just slide the end with the shiny simulated leather through one slot and directly to the other (make sure the velcro on the strap is facing up). Once it is through each of the slots fold over the strap and stick the velcro parts together. The stitching and fabric on the far end of the strap stops the other end from going through the slots. The strap and the arm cuff make the detector feel like it is an extension of your arm.
I hope this helps, B Spa

By the way, there is no stupid questions in this forum, everybody helps and has brain farts.....

You may consider using it, if detecting with the Deus in water. Since a diving remote control may be an unfunny incident, so all what helps to reduce that risk makes sense.

Sometimes the simplest things are the hardest to figure out, happens to me all the time.

Ha, early on I dropped my Deus accidentally a few times because I was so accustomed to having straps on my other detectors that I would just release my grip when I was getting ready to kneel and dig. It took a little getting used to without the strap, but I like it better now. However there are certainly useful times to wear it as a couple of folks posted, so I keep it on standby for those occasions.
