Sudays 1 1/2 hour hunt

The old High School moved to a brand new building the first of the year. The Middle School, several blocks away, moved into the old HS building and like the High School keeps the soccer And football field locked up tighter than Fort Knox. I wanted to get in there for years and today I had my chance.

Today, Sunday about 9:00am I saw the gate wide open and two workmen, private contractors, spiffing up the track.
I went in and asked if they would mind if I used my detector. They had no problem but said they had no authority but said

A good way to hunt fields is to wait until after the season is over and there is the longest period of time between your detecting and their use. Where I live, snow covers them for months and they have to be rolled and re-seeded in the spring so a little detecting in the late fall does no harm. I ask first and some places say go ahead while others ask me to limit my detecting to non-sports fields which is fine with me. I have wandered onto a few off limits fields especially early on a Sunday morning in late November.
