Suggestions for a spare

I'm about a month into MDing and love it. I bought a used Minelab 305 and really enjoy it. I was thinking of getting a spare in case of a breakdown. I could come up with a couple of hundred bucks. Could you guys suggest a model or brand that would fit the bill or would I be better adviced to save my money for an upgrade later?
