Hello all,

Long time detectorist...first time deus user here. Got my dues in today with 9"LF coil and hit a older park to try it out. Ran with vers. 4.0 hot program and left settings as they were and 90 GB manual. First impressions.....omg this detector is light and fast. Reminded me of using my f75 because it hit on every little piece of metal and was a little bit sparky.

Only issues I had...sometimes I would get what I thought was a nice repeatable tone and it would completely disappear?? A couple times it was miniscule surface objects but other times not. I'm guessing really deep iron maybe?? Also I'm usually pretty good at pinpointing but completely sucked with this....maybe also because lots of iron. I use the wiggle back method.

I really like hearing all the tones in the hot program and also like getting softer sounds for deeper targets. I think I would like it better if I could adjust the iron volume down a bit though. This machine is great in iron. I pulled a few deep buttons within iron...also some nails, didn't always read it right or listen to the forced tones like I should have.

I think a perfect program for me would be like 3 tones one iron one mid one high where I could adjust the iron and have the standard display. I like the depth meter.

All in all loved the detector and cant wait to go again. Been reading your guys posts to learn up and watching vids....thx all for the great input here on the forums!!

Any help appreciated...

Dave

i and others have had the ghost signals...put it down to minerals in the soil ..i had them in sand where i could see the iron minerals

I'll address your pinpointing issues by telling you how I do it. When I hit a dig, I mark the spot with my foot then turn on the auto PP on the remote and mark it then leave it on. When I've pulled the plug out i run the deus over the plug. Nine times out of ten if Ive dug deep enough, the auto will sound off over the plug. The object can then be found with the hand held which doesnt hear as loudly as the auto. This saves a whole bunch of time looking for the object. If the object is still in the hole, you an usually find it easily then with the hand held. HH

Sometimes I've had a signal disappear and then found a pull tab stuck to my digger.

Try my settings. They have become very popular. They are on my site.
