Sun Glare

dm

New member
I just purchased a new exp for my wife. Will have to wait intil next spring to try it just to cold now up here in Mn. I know she is going to have trouble with the sun glare like i did on my old exp i tried both the minelab and sunray covers but they dont help. Any ideas on how to cut down the glare thanks and H.H.

Hi Dm,
I use a minelab cover on my SE and I do have trouble with sun glare all I do is turn around and swing over the target from a different direction I really don't know if there is another remedy, if you come up with something that works I reckon there would be plenty of people on the forum that would be interested in it.

All the best.....Boony

The solution is for Minelab to get with the program and come out with a better display but I guess that would mean a complete product design. Why do that when all you have to do is keep tweaking an older model and rename it. Don't get me wrong as I think it is a terrific machine but to put it bluntly-the display SUCKS...

That's what I do as well but it gets old. I guess I'll try the polarized shades next Spring.

Minelab needs to come out with a polarized cover! You can increase the contrast on the screen a little and that helps.

I had to take my dust/rain cover off and turn the contrast way up. Does anyone know of a better dust cover?

I used one of my screen protectors that I purchased for my PDA. It lays across the ESE display perfectly. Not only does it cut down the glare, but acts as a barrier for the dust and dirt. And since it protects the display from scratching, I have no worries about wiping off any dirt or dust with my hands. And when it gets worn down, I'll just pull it off and put on a new one. I did this with my DFX when I first bought it 2 years ago and its LCD display looks as good as the day I bought it.

Which PDA cover is it and where did you get it?

The one I purchased was for the HP iPAQ PDA and I think I bought it at Best Buy. Fellowes makes them in different sizes.

Does it fit snuggly?

It is like peeling a transparent sticker off and putting it over your display. Once you apply it, you smooth it out to clear any air bubbles. So, YES, it is snug.
