I was hunting my favorite park early Sunday morning and decided to rehunt a part that I had some success earlier this year. This park has a Frisbee golf course on it and around the cement pads(Tees) there are loads of pull tabs, crushed aluminum cans, and every other kind of modern trash. To top it off, a 50 by 100 foot section is loaded with rusty iron nails from 6 to 10 inches deep. I was gridding this particular section. The first good target I dug was two feet in front of one of these cement pads. It was reading a steady 39 and was extremely loud. I almost left it in the ground figuring it was a crushed aluminum can. I was sloppy digging because of what I thought it would turn out to be, but from 5 or 6 inches I got the target on to my drop cloth. I saw a thick silver edge and was shocked when a pristine standing liberty half showed up. I put a 1/4 inch nick on one side because of my sloppy digging. I always re sweep the immediate area to see why or what was masking this large piece of silver. about two or three inches to the side of the plug I got rusty nail and an equal distance on the opposite side I had folded up tab. While the Safari is not noted for being a "fast" detector, it works well when it is slowed down to a "crawl".
