Sunday's Colonial hunt

coinnut

New member
Went out with a buddy and we both did well. He got more coppers than I did (3) and more buttons, but I got the nicer buckle and oldest copper. So it was a draw:twodetecting: Had a good time, except for those darn bugs!!! Hit 3 cellar holes and produced these keepers. HH

Good job coinnut...................

If you are ever in the area, come on by.... We'll work you hard:rofl: You know cellar hole hunting is not for the faint hearted:drinking: Thanks El, we had a good day once again. Actually, I barely held my own today. My buddy is on a roll. But as long as I come home with some good targets, I'm happy.

ya you had a good day George , you couldn't have ask for better weather too.that first cellar we hit deserves another assult on it, there's more there i'm sure
here's my take from the day 3 coppers (2 king george lll's 1775 and 177? and also an 1820 large cent ) 14 buttons , a thimble , a shoe buckle, an ox shoe, part of a lantern ,a musket ball and 2 wheat pennies 1910 ,1919

Awesome Hunt George , Love the Large Copper and Awesome Buckle.
The partner hunting is nice . I know we all say we are happy for
the other , but sometimes I want to bash mine over the head when he
brags a bit too much

Looking at your pic's leddel, made my heart skip a beat. In 1792, we made a pattern large cent (that had a silver plug in the middle to make the coin actually worth a penny) and I thought the hole in the one was a silver plug! One was found at a police auction and was sold for some serious change recently. Nice find's all!

Oh, they might make a better find(s) from time to time than I do, but that's part of the adventure. The nice thing is they don't brag or boast or get 'competitive', and neither do I. Quite probably the reason the "Top 5" are females because the guys ( bringing up #6-#10 of my "Top 10") sometimes get just a bit competitive or boastful.

Still, it can be a lot more fun hunting with others than by yourself. I've done both over the past 44+ years and I'd rather enjoy the hunt with a good friend. (Note: It's root beer floats for me.) :)

Congrats on the fantastic hunting both of you!! Those are some serious good finds! Great work, Beale.

wow again, coinnut! man. ya'll are just tearin' it up up there! i didn't have a very good day sunday, so it's nice to see everyone else's finds! hey man, nice coppers, and that is one old lookin' buckle! a banner find for sure. thanks, and hh!

Thanks Ghost. We have been very lucky lately, since most of our sites have been hunted alot in the past. But we find creative ways to get some finds. One way is increase the number of hours hunting:twodetecting: not exactly rocket science but it does increase the yields (and the sore body parts as well). Mostly we hit one little patch that was not detected before and find a couple of keepers. I was lucky in that, I found the copper at our first hole almost right away. This made me relax enough for the rest of the day. And when you are relaxed, I feel you find more. Hope you do better this weekend. I'm going out on Saturday to a site that produced lots of buckles and my nice civil war token. I wish us all luck!!

I can see I most definately need to relax a whole bunch more.
Keep'em coming.
