Sunday's finds made up for Saturday's losses!

I slept in this morning and finally got up and started swinging the detector shortly after 11:00am. I stopped at a couple spots and every time I found some keepers. Today I found 9 Silver, 3 being Barber Dimes dated 1908-s,1909 with readable liberty, and 1912 with readable liberty but must have been in gravel since it is dinged up a bit. The 1908-s was in between some larger rocks in the ground and I ended up slicing it in the front. Next time I am going to locate it with the X-1 Probe and then use my brass probe to work it out if I run into this situation again. The other 6 were Mercury Dimes dated 1918,1924-d,1936-d,1943-d,1944-d,and 1945-d. I found a spot that was loaded with Wheats and Merc's that I know of so far and saved it for next weekend so I can take my friend to it. If I myself would have stayed there and worked it by myself, I know I would have had 20-30 Silver no problem today. Can't wait to see what else is in there this upcoming weekend. I also found 2 Nickels, 1 being a Buffalo (needing the acid treatment) dated 1920 and the other Nickel was a Jefferson dated 1940. There is a before and after pic for the Nickels below. I also found an Indian Head Penny dated 1906 and 15 more Wheats dated 1917-s,1918,1919,1926,1926-d,1930-d,1939,1939,1940-s,1945,1946,1947-d,1952-d,1955-d,and 1957-d. Pic for the Pennies is below. And I found a Button that says on the back "American Button Co. Newark,NJ. and an old Cufflink. Not a bad day at all. Wow, nice haul! Looks like you have found a killer spot.

The button is a "Great Seal" button. I've found 3 of them around here over the years. Check the link...

Thanks for the info on the button Mike (Virginia Beach). Now I know what it is and how old.

Judging by your total finds including all those wheats go back and pound the area as excellent spots are hard to come by....

That's a pretty good haul there James. WTG...........:) I was at a club hunt Saturday at a pounded park in the Seattle area and outside of a lot of clad the only silver I got was a 51 rosie. My buddy got a war nickle, a 42 merc and a 1884 IH. I got my Nic-A-Date stuff today. I tried it out on seven buffalo nickels and it worked on six of them, so that stuff does work. HH.

Thanks Bgscofield6. It sure felt good to get that much silver yesterday. It reminded me of what it was like in 2004 when I was getting 10-15 Silver every weekend. I ended up finding 285 silver for the year and I sure would like to break the 300 mark this year. Will have to wait and see what happens this year and Good Luck to you this year on your hunt spots and HH.

Thanks for the post and comment Eddie. I am glad to hear that you got the Nic-A-Date and it worked on your Buffalo Nickels. The one that it didn't work on, I don't know why it didn't. I have yet to find a Nickel that the acid won't pull the date off of. Maybe you just have to let it sit a little longer. Hope you get out and find some nice finds Eddie and Good Luck to you and HH.

Thank you Ocean 7. I just hope next weekend is a repeat and by any means, I think I will do even better at the new site that is loaded with the Wheats and Merc's. Maybe there is older stuff too. I will soon find out and I hope you have some good luck when you go out next time also. HH.

You got that right Dan-Pa! I will have the postings on Saturday Night sometime of what myself and BarberBoy get out of this Hot Spot we have come accross. You just have to do a little research and you can find spots like these and have the thrill of digging lots of great finds. Thanks for the post and hope you find a spot like this to call your own.

Sure wish I could come accross a site like that, seems like lately I have picked every bad site there is.
Maybe the next site will be better.

Tried a site up North where I got the 1888 dog tag on Saturday, got some new coins with the T-2 and got skunked with the Explorer.

We need to get up to that park southwest of you sometime soon before the grass grows up and the wood ticks and the mosquitoes come out in force. Will have to talk to Dale about that site next time he calls and let you know when we go out there and hopefully you will be able to come with. Hope you won something from the Wayne A. Otto Raffle and hope I wasn't the only one that did in the club. You should go and give Lisbon Park or the Fairgrounds a shot sometime. You also could go and detect where the old trailer court was over along the interstate in Fargo behind K-Mart before they dig it up. I found some Wheats and a few silver over there before. Give it a shot next time in Fargo Rick and maybe you will find some good stuff.
