Never had a problem with my S-12 on my Elite. OUTSTANDING coil. And it pinpointed great and was lighter than stock. Also very stable. Did have to cut the sensitivity some, which is to be expected with a larger coil. As for the 15" WOT, many swear by them. Too big for my tastes...I prefer a 12.5.

Thanx for the reply........I was just concerned about the stress relief and stiff cable wire.......was there a recall to fix them ?

I don't know anything about that, but as far as the one that I had it was one of the nicest quality coils I've ever seen. Top notch. And the strain relief was just fine. And I used it at the beach, in the woods, everywhere. I sold my Elite not too long ago, and the S-12 along with it. It was in mint condition...had quite a many hours on it. If you go to the Sunray site and look under "Customer Testimonials" I have one on file there.

I guess it seems to be the first models of the coil that had the problems with the wire & no strain relief?

Maybe. Mine had a strain relief on it, that's all I know. Looked like any other. And as far as the coil wire being stiff, just looked like extra heavy duty to me...I took that to be a good thing.
