Supertune the Quatro ...

Willee - Texas

Well-known member
A fella at the club meeting last night told me there was a resistor on the Quattro circuit board that is there to detune the performance of that detector so it would not perform as well as the Explorer XS or Explorer II. He said by changing it to another value the Quattro has just as much detecting depth as its big brothers.

Anyone know what resistor he is talking about?

Does the Safari have one also?

Willee

Don't know about the Quattro's depth as I never used one, but the Safari is every bit as deep as my Explorer SE, just doesn't have all the disc. and tone options.

Quattros a deep machine especially with stock coil or larger. Menu on quattros way more simple than explorers or etracs. Of corse they all have there ups and downs im sure. Overall quattros are a pretty nice machine:goodnight::wiggle::smoke:

I'm using Quattro few years now and I compare this MD to XS, EX2 only difference is disc and recovery speed to me .I really doubt Minelab us some extra resistors to limit anything.

Ask him to give you a picture of the CB and the resistor in question.... After the sputtering or excuse is provided just ignore this....

Do you really want to take dikes out and snip components off of an expensive machine based on hearsay.....
