Dear Mr. President; I am writing regarding some unknown variables regarding the Oil Spill here in the Gulf Coast. Although complaints about the Oil Spill are not new to you I wish to assure you that this is about something related but different OK. I watched your Address and the News Conference the next day. You spoke of the efforts to clean up the Oil and making BP pay for all the damages. That's a great idea and is appreciated to know that we will get paid back.My question to you is that although the cleaning and repaying us is great; How do you repair or repay someone for heartache ????
I have watched the devastation first hand. I'm seeing businesses close. Houses Foreclosed on by heartless Bankers. Scam Artists galore. Family fortunes lost and whole communities are becoming Ghost Towns. As bad as that is the real kicker hit home last night. You see I've spent the 2 months explaining to my kid about the oil situation. She really doesn't understand it all but she tries. After the Oil started effecting my area my Company shut down because it could not operate. I was let go along with all the other guys. I've been living the best I can and had saved some money put away.Well as my money ran out I could not afford to buy any more food, let alone pay bills. Then the day came yesterday when I had no more money left and could not get any food for my family. We had toast for supper. As I was putting my girl to bed, tucking her in she asked me "Will we eat tomorrow??" As I looked in her eyes and said yes honey we will OK. Then I left her room. Last night I could not sleep because I was "haunted" by the look of doubt and fear in her eyes knowing she was one step away from crying. I was too.
Mr. President; with all those great efforts how do you remove that look from my kids eyes??? Cleaning and Money ain't going to do it.!!! I know I'm not the only one in this situation. I see the same fear and yes Anger in my friends eyes. I see the local kids not playing ball. I see the local Little League Ball Team members dwindling. I've even seen some of them crying. The daily talk now is about what our futures are or where we're moving too instead of talking about boats, fishing and the Big One that did get caught. I see people selling everything they own, including their clothes. Mr. President believe me; With every item they sell they're also selling a part of their souls. They have no choice. With every child I see cry I see their Anger mount. Mr. President, you are a DAD. How would you feel??? I'm not blaming you directly but this hurts more than any money on Earth you could give us. I know you have been here in the Gulf Coast a few times and we appreciate that. The ones we have not seen until today are the BP Execs themselves. I'm wondering when they are going to come and meet the people face to face and be the real men they claim to be. I'd like any one of them to sit there and tell my girl face to face that everything will be OK and they'll fix it. That she'll eat today. For them to come to the local ball fields and talk to the kids to reassure them and help dry their tears. Mr. President; I believe that if you can do that then you will TRULY be worthy of the title of President. I thank you for your time and hopefully await your reply.
