surfmaster dual field question

Mr B

New member
Those of you out there that use the dual field know that the dual field threshold always sounds a bit like static with a little warbl. My dual field intermittently goes from the normal static warbl to a smooth thresho!d and at the same time loses sensitivity. It still picks up large metal but it won't go deep or pick up anything small. I sent it to Whites for repairs and got it back , however it did not fix it. Anyone have any ideas or have experience with this issue? Thanks in advance.

I just bought one and used it first time a week ago. Same issues. Just sent it back to the distribution center with an agreement to send me a new machine. How old is yours? maybe they put out a bad batch?

Mine is a 2015 . Out of warranty. Great machine when working. The component that was intermittent finally failed completely. Thanks for the reply. Guess the service center will have to sort it out.

My threshold is a solid loud hum(almost like a battery check sound). When I put on the pluse delay don’t no how high. It smooths out

I've always run my machine with no pulse delay unless waves are causing a threshold rise. When I do use it it's just clicked out of the off position. This has always worked well for me. I bench tested it the other day and it wouldn't pick up a pair of scissors at 1 inch. It's on the way to the repair shop and I'm sure they'll nail it down. Thanks for the reply.
