Surfmaster PI Pro Question.

Sven

Well-known member
I am new to the Pulse detectors.
Have a few questions in checking performance, doing an air test with the the PI Pro
with the gain and threshold set at "P", how far away from the coil will a average size man's wedding band
be detected. And a US silver dime?

Also, curious about the trimmer pot on the top of the PCB board, just wondering what that controls?

Hopefully I can get out and practice with it this weekend.

It's best to set the threshold to a point of just hearing the tone.

Use as much gain as you can keeping it stable. It will not be as stable as a VLF detector. Trying to do so will cost you a lot of missed good targets.

A dime is a poor target to use, try it with a US Nickel. 10" to 12".

The trimmer is a volume control.

Mr. Bill

Thanks for the info, appreciate it.

Hi Mr Bill, is the trimmer the same on the Dual field ie volume too, the reason i ask is mine is too loud and i have to run the threshold well below preset to hunt confortably because of this over volume and have been hesitant to touch it in case its not
TIA
