So Long as you don't mind digging deep holes for bobbie pins, hair barretts and nails, the PI is the way to go. My Excal hits good targets up to 22" and that's deep enough for me. A discriminating PI along the lines of the upcoming Whites Surfmaster Dual Frequency may be another story but until I can discern junk iron from gold with a PI, I'll hold off.
