Surprised at weak quarter signal

Was at a local park today and got a solid, albeit soft tone. I was expecting a dime but it turned out to be a quarter at about 6 to 7 inches. I would have expected a quarter to hit harder than that. I was using one of Andy's coin programs.

I realize there are a TON of factors and settings that can affect depth and signal strength so I don't want it to sound like I'm complaining. Just a little surprised.

Oh, and the quarter was just clad.

I've had the same thing happen to me on several occasions, 4-5" coins giving a semi weak signal, but, today 2 pulltabs at 7" hitting hard, I've been concerned about missing deeper coins due to this situation.

Funny you should mention the pull tabs. I also had several of those at about the same depth that gave a very solid signal. I actually had 2 quarters give weak signals today. Maybe they were on edge or something.
