Playing around with the F70 and different coils with different setups, I put the Fisher 15" Deepseeker coil on the F70 and did some air testing on a quarter in SL mode, this baby was solid at 16-17 inches, a tad chatty but a solid signal. just thought i would share for anyone that might be interested. It's no telling how deep it might go on a large target.

Thats incredable, I have snagged quarters at the 10-11 inch range with my 11dd, and found a watch once that was so deep I was embarassed of the hole I dug, must have been easily 13-15 inches, but I figured since it was a metalic wrist watch it had a large amount of mass to reflect the signal off of. I am finally getting a break in the weather this weekend so we are going out to hunt. I will be pushing my F70 harder this year to find that point where I can stand it and it still runs very deep. I will post my results and my settings, I hope to start with disc 1-5 sens 60+ and thres 0 at least, if the chattering will allow me to hunt. On the beach it was quite nosiy with those settings, I shifted the Freqs a couple of times and found one that seemed quite, but I dont want to forget the fact that I was searching over wet nasty lake bottom sand and we have a higher iron content on some of our beaches so the signals that were "chattering" could have been hotrocks or hot spots in the soil that just wouldn't repeat.

Great report! :clapping:

I was thinking about that big coil for beach work..not necessarily depth, you know, but to cover a lot more sand in a short time, (lots of sand, few targets) what do you think about the added weight as far as swinging this thing fast and hard like a guy can do with the 11? Thats the only reason I didn't buy it...concerned the weight would take the fun out of swinging hard, wide, and fast..

Seems this big coil would be perfect for field work on older and deeper relics/coins scattered targets, and not really intended for speed sweeping, totlotting, or hunting shallow targets in the trash huh?
Mud

You could always turn down the machine and reduce the depth on the beach, but that coil would be murder in the heavy trash areas like a park. Do the retailers put the weight on the description of the extra coils? Would be good information.

i would like to know how much more depth you get in the ground, ive been thinking about getting a bigger coil so let us know if you do any depth test compaired to the stock 11 DD hh

Hi mudpuppy, the big coil is a beast concerning weight, i wouldn't recommend trying to swinging it fast, just to heavy, but i wanted it for depth and ground coverage and for that purpose i think it will be great.

Hi ez4sure,

As soon as the weather is suitable i'm gonna take the big coil to a old farm my friend lives on that he said i could hunt anytime, so i'll know more about ground depth, as far as the 11"DD, i don't have one cause i traded it for the 15", but i did air test the 11" as i do all my coils, i can't remember what numbers the 11" was doing in air test, but i'm sure it wasn't what the 15" does or i would've remembered.
