t2 and 2 tone?

i use the 1 tone and 3 tone on the t2, Ive noticed a lot of people like the 2 tone , i cant get used to the zip sound i would if it worked well?Layed a dime a quarter and a screw cap off a bottle on the ground and the bottle cap and quarter zipped at a lower pitch than the dime do i have that backwards?what do you listen for in 2 tone, what to dig and not to dig any advice would be appreciated thanks!

Well the T2 is a very popular machine with relic hunters, who usually dig everything that is non-ferrous. So 2 tone is a perfect mode for that since you either get a low iron grunt or a high tone so you can ignore most iron and dig everything else. The 2+ mode modulates the frequency of the tone according to signal strength so if you have a large shallow target such as a can you will get the squeal.

Judging from the targets you selected to test with, I'd be that you are more of a coin shooter than a relic hunter and so you don't want to dig all non ferrous targets since you will likely be hunting in areas where there is more likely to be large amounts of non-ferrous trash and so 3 or 4 tone, and perhaps BC mode would likely be a better choice than 2 tone for you. That said even in 2 tone you can develop the experience to hear the difference between a good target and a bad target in the non-ferrous ranges. Last fall I was hunting in a farm field next to a campground and there were some pulltabs there (most farm fields don't have too much aluminum trash in them). These pulltabs were coming up pretty consistently around 42 or 43 so I started to not dig signals in that TID range, but I came across a target that ID'd as 42 but as soon as I heard it I just knew that this was different from the pulltabs. When I uncovered the target I found that it was a very corroded 1868 Indian Head Cent. The corrosion and verdigris had pulled it all the way down from the upper 70s where it belonged into the low 40s but the audio told the story.

I hunt for coins here in Germany and I use the 2+ mode 95% of the time. I just started to try out the 1+ mode yesterday. I like the modulated sound of the 2+ mode (Though I thought the 1+ does that too?)
I don't like the 3 mode much cause all you get is a beep. I like the more descriptive sound of the 2+.

Most of the old coins I find are only 2" - 4" so the 2+ works fine. I get a good feeling for depth with it. Since I came from a Nautilus 2b, I think I like the sound to be as descriptive as possible. I use the other modes to check my signals mostly.

Question to you, what do you like about the modes you use?

Multi tone is good too..but a little busy for my taste.Though I will say in A very high trashed park Multi is the way to go..listen for the quick high tones....and you will be rewarded with coins next to trash............

Many ways to use the t2 and none of them are wrong. It's what works best for you.. and your area of detecting...

I have said it here, and other places..The T2 is the best coin shooter I have ever used.............:teknetics:

Thanks for the "leads", will check Garys out.

Quick question - I like the feel of the 2+ and you like the feel of the 1 tone. Don't they both do the same thing outside of the modulation (VCO) with depth? I have to play with the 1, I've only played with the 1+ the other day and actually really liked it.
