Out for about an hour came across this iffy signal repeatable tonight exact deapth of my pinpointer 9 inches 1884 v nickle,,,,,CEDAR

That's a beauty. When detecting here in Florida, mostly in public parks, usually I'm filtering out nickel signals because there's so many pulltabs.

It's a tough call to make. I try to cover more ground for silver, instead of taking the time digging for nickels and getting pulltabs.

Now looking at that beauty you found, I'm thinking maybe I should start filtering for nickels again.

I did the good repeatables that are in the tab range if i.d. dont bounce around if there deep I get excited when it hits high tones, thats why I like to run tone 3 in parks 2+ in iron.Yesterday I dug a pultab only to find a wheat penny in the same hole about 8 inches,,,,,CEDAR

Why 2+ in iron instead of 3? In 3 doesn't nickles read medium.

what is your disc setting, that's deep and was repeatable.

I run o disc. if I can 3 tones unless it gets to busy than i go 2+,,,,,CEDAR

I have only used 1, 3, and BP. 3 is low for iron, medium for aluminum, high for coins, what does 2+ give you and whats the advantage. Thanks

Tone 2+ allows iron to grunt easy to here the distinction between ferrous non ferrous targets the advantage would be in sights infested with iron aim to dig all non ferrous targets.Tone 3 produses a high tone on most coins including nickels medium tone for most trash however bullets also produce a medium tone that would be my reason to switch to 2+,,,,,CEDAR
