Was curious i see a teknetics t2 classic but the lower rod looks weird not round, Is this a earlier model or a knockoff.
The main screen looks real says teknetics on it.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm This is the First Texas pic of whole unit. Did you buy yours new ?? From a dealer ???

Your coil looks a little different too...

One i seen on ebay, was curious that it looked fake even tho the main screen looked legit, A friend of
mine was interested in it.

Stick with a stateside first texas dealer and youll get the right one. They all have websites as do the dealers here on findmall.

n/t

Appears to be a Chinese counterfeit.

Most bottom rods are not only similar size dia wise but also the width of the bottom of the rod in between the lugs,so maybe a spare rod from another detector or even another brand, some of my spare rods are from other brand as well,so that could well be the reason why this one is different.

The lower rod in your T2 is not the correct rod for that machine. What you have there is a lower rod from a Bounty Hunter....possibly a 1100 "one of the Grey machines" that Bounty Hunter use to make. I would definitely recommend replacing it with the correct lower rod as to that lower rod could "and will" cause your detector to false as to the stem is made of aluminum. I hope this helps........

I dont think that is the case, the alloy bottom rod moves exactly in the same fixed arc as the coil and does not move,so the coil does not pick the bottom rod up,no different than when it was fitted as you have mentioned on a Bounty Hunter ?? another scenario that is similar is that some Tesoro machines have stainless coil nuts and bolts, because these are fixed and not moving differently too the coil the coil does not pick them up.

If the coil cable is not wrapped around the bottom shaft or infact the whole shaft in a secure manner and the cable flops around than can and will be picked up by the coil and cause problems,so a problem as such with either alloy bottom rods or metal coil bolts,if they move independently then you start having problems.
