T2 find...early silver ring

Bill Ladd

New member
At the same site I found the Spanish Silver about a month ago....
I dug this silver ring that looks like it could be just as old, or Colonial. It has a very similar "bars" design that was common on rare coins & buttons, but those had 13 bars for the 13 colonies....no dice on this one :(
Unfortunately the back part is broken off, but I was happy to see this early ring was personalized. You can see "HB" was hand scratched into it...

Bill, one can learn from someone who detects old or modern coins ,well done on your find ,put up your settings for us to share .:wiggle:

are usually 1 or 2 tones.....disc mode, & around high 30's or 40 disc. Sensitivity cranked up as far as possible, at least 70 or more...For heavy iron, I turn disc back down into the 20's to avoid disc masking, & 1 tone & listen close to the audio (how I pulled the ring out).
For relic hunting for deep targets like lead bullets & buttons, I use all metal mode & usually only dig number readings over 40....
I'm still learning this powerful beast, but these settings have been working real well so far....

Bill

Good call....I will keep that tip in mind as I begin to research it more. My next step is to find out the names of the few Colonial land owners in the area for a match too. So far, that spot had a last name of "Gibson" which does not match up, initials-wise. But, they ran a stagecoach stop there so anyone could have visited & lost the ring too....

Bill
