T2 frequency shift??

So I've only got about two hours with the T2 SE ( my other machine is a MXT ). I've made a few finds, but nothing amazing yet. I have a question,, just for my general knowledge.

I was just reading the manual about changing the frequency as a means to help overcome EMI disturbance. My question is what exactly are you adjusting,,, in layman's terms. The machine's frequency is listed at 13 kHz,, what changes when you adjust the frequency from F1 to F7,, does the 13 kHz go up and down?

Sorry if it's a silly question,, but I am not well studied on frequency.

That is exactly what shifting from F1 thru F7 does - I believe that the standard 13 Khz frequency is either F3 or F4. The frequency shift are small, small enough so it doesn't change the the operation of the detector just shifts the frequency enough so that you can eliminate interference from another machine or sometimes from other sources, but many things such as electric fences, those invisible dog fences, power lines, etc can cause interference no matter which you choose but some frequencies will get less interference than others.

Thanks Steve. Any idea what the kHz range is between F1 and F7?

Here you go...

1 = 12,821 kHz
2 = 12,876 kHz
3 = 12,931 kHz
4 = 12,987 kHz (DEFAULT)
5 = 13,043 kHz
6 = 13,100 kHz
7 = 13,158 kHz

You're the man Steve,, thanks!!

So I took the T2 out to a small patch of woods in town today for about 30 minutes of detecting. I really didn't find much, but I did find myself wandering under a fairly low powerline. The T2 got very chatty and it was obvious EMI was the culprit. Out of curiosity I made a couple of frequency shifts and darned if it didn't quiet down enough to continue hunting under the wires. I was pretty impressed with the feature.

I too can usually quiet the machine down around power lines by shifting frequencies. I can usually find a quiet enough frequency to hunt around multi-frequency machines that output on a lot of frequencies too. Its those electric fences and electronic dog fences that cause me fits.
