T2 Ltd Hunting in All Metal, Best setting?

Hey guys I've been using the T2 Se for about 100 hours now and havn't seen many people using the all metal setting. Depending on the site usually farm fields or woods, I am a relic hunter. I want raw depth and I want to hear everything and check my Vdi with every signal. I run at about 85 sensitivity in Bp mode. It can get noisy but I don't mind. I am wondering if this is the best possible setting for the deep stuff or If I should be trying the whole Disc 50 BP thing. I don't like using Disc because I feel that Im missing signals, and the All metal gives me a solid tone all around I just check the consistancy of the numbers to decide and dig. Does this sound about right? Thanks, Jim

I use BP AM more often than not with the LTD/SE and I believe rock solid stability is imperative. After you get a good GB, either by FG or manual if necessary, hold the coil up off the ground and set the AM sens. It'll also help to run the threshold a little higher than the minimum audible level that is often mentioned. Don't worry if you need to throttle back to sens levels around 50 or lower to achieve the stability I'm mentioning if you're running BP AM because roughly speaking, 30 BP AM equals about 65 to 70 DE (regular) AM. Running the detector this way will let you hear the very slightest threshold fluxuation over an actual target which is what you're after. Chances are if you're on a severely pounded site, the remaining targets that you'll hear aren't strong enough to provide any numeric ID. If and when that happens, all you need to do is keep your AM sens as the "hot key" (highlighted menu bar) and then when swinging over the target, turn up the sens setting enough to try and get an ID. Then when you move on and continue hunting, turn the sens back down. Repeat, recover, enjoy.

Great post Brad!!

Brad very informative! Thank you. Im a big dummy I havnt been setting the hum level correctly. Looks like I gotta go back to my colonial sites once again to see if I can get any deeper. Thanks again:thumbup:

You're welcome any time. Actually, I learned that about the threshold while hunting in the extremely hot ground around Culpeper, VA. but I have several sites locally that it comes into play big time also. Even when you have the sens turned down, a threshold setting that is too low will still fluxuate too much just due to the mineralization. Turn it up just a tad and it gets rock solid and you still won't lose any good targets. Good luck!

Brad - I've only used my T2 once. I'm familiar w/threshold on the MXT, but what are you referring to on the T2 - volume?

Talking about threshold volume. Typically, if one were to set it at "minimum audible" it would probably be somewhere between 0 and 1. Somewhere between 1 and 2, it should become much more steady and as such will tend to only fluxuate on a target instead of the ground also like it does at a lesser setting. Of course you also need to make sure to GB as often as necessary to maintain a solid threshold. With experience, you'll know your GB setting is no longer spot on by how the threshold acts.

Ok - I think I get it. Similar to the MXT. Is it only available as an option in all metal?
