T2 Nickel Readings

JaWi.

Member
Got myself a new T2 and have not found any nickels on the first hunt. what ID do they normally come in at? Do you find the older Indian Head Nickels ID different? Thanks Joe

I find the nickels id at 56 or 57. If the id reads a 59 or above it turns out to be a pull tab. A solid 58 can be either a tab or a nickel. I haven't found any buffalo nickels so I can't help there.

Pops

i agree with pops, usually clad nickels that are closer to the surface will ring a solid 58, i dug a buffalo at 7" the other day but i cant remember where it hit, it wasnt the standard 56-59 though..

I have found the exact same thing as Pops. I have dug 1 Buffalo with mine and it read a solid 57 at a 5" depth. Deeper ones, though, do tend to become a little bouncy. HH jim tn
