T2 OR F75

I was wondering if there is much difference between these two detectors? I am trading for a T2 basically because it is available at a good price. HH

I have them both, both great detectors. Enjoy the T 2, it is one wonderful coin and relic hunter. Good luck and let us know what you are finding. HH jim tn

I could be wrong..Either way you have a long time experience with Fishers..Get an F75 top of the line..You won't believe the performance and if you just coin shoot get the Tek T2..either one goes deep and works well.. I have been told the Omega 8000 is good too. I just haven't tried that "yet".......

Your situation and mine was much alike. I hunted with a cz6 from 92 until 05 when I traded it for a cz3d. After retiring in late 06 I bought a F 75 in early 07, but hung onto the cz3d...just in case. It didn't take me very long to realize the F 75 was one great coin hunting and relic detector and I sold the 3d. I have since also acqiured a T 2, which is a great detector as well, but more often then not, the F 75 is the one I use far more often. None of the extra features that the F 75 has should be a deal breaker between the two, but the saving settings feature, the backlight and the je mode are solid pluses. I also find the F 75 seems to id nickels a bit better and as close as I can tell, has a little more depth. But, both are really deep machines. Good luck with your decision, you won't go wrong with either. HH jim tn

You're exactly right Elton. Sorry about my misprint. I purchased my CZ-6 in 1991 and not 1981. I am glad you caught that and brought it to my attention.

I have the f75
If your talking T2 or F70 i would go T2 because of stock DD coil . Half F70 users buy the 11in DD coil bringing it close in price close to F75

If I may venture my humble opinion the T2 is the best of the lot! Call it terminator and since you do relic hunting the T2 allows you to hunt in pinpoint mode, this modes penetrates the ground very deep several feet in fact it is ideal for gold nugget hunting cache hunting and other metal objects hidden very deep where other detectors will let you walk past with no finds...
But be prepared to dig "graves" pinpoint mode is a nightmare if you are my age so I tend to avoid it (hehehe) if the goodie is buried that deep some young fellah can find it!
I did write a review on here if you want normal settings and general advise.
Cheers!

I read your review and it only took me 2 days  Seriously, it was a great review and the settings were very helpful. It almost makes me want to purchase it instead of the F70.

My biggest concern about the T2 is the POTENTIAL lack of support by FisherFirstTexasTekneticsBountyHunterWhoever. A case in point: It is almost impossible to find the small accessory coil even after they announced it would be available in 2007. It may be a great machine but if it is setting in the corner because of lack of service or support then it is not such a great value. Even if it is comparable in performance to the F75 (with a few less features) I would think the Fisher F70 & F75 will at least be supported. At least their coils are compatible and they are widely available. It is almost like Teknetics is the sister that Fisher doesn't want to acknowledge. Personally, I have usually went out on the limb and taken a risk when purchasing something new. That is why I purchased the Fisher CZ-6 in 1991 when all my hunting buddies said to stick with the 1266X. I would probably prefer the T2 over the F70 but the cost difference may prevent me from my first choice. I just wish that I could try them both out in the field:nopity:to see how each feels and performs.

why would you think that first texas woulnot support one of their brands. if they did that it would be bad publicity because people looking to buy the a fisher would wonder if they would do the same to them. first texas is a good company and will stand behind all their products.

Teknetics is being made by First Texas daily..Delta, T2, Omega........... coils are available....Maybe your dealer just doesn't stock.

Tek T2 started this great line of detectors made by First Texas..........the F75 came out later..Though it is not the exact same detector..some of the ideas evolved from the T2 platform.. Granted Fisher is a more popular brand but that can change ...Look at the great reviews of all the Tek products..

Call Fisher I'm sure you can find a 5" coil....... Most manufactures only make a couple coils..Whites 5.3 950 and now 12"..Minelab 8" 11" and on older Exp. 10.5"..so Tek isn't far off.. Most bigger coils are aftermarket coils by someone else.. Anyway, just my thoughts.. I can say this, same people build, same techs do the work..so it just makes sense their going to go forward...

First Texas is an independent company..They make Bounty Hunter, Fisher, and Teknetics... They also have some of the best engineers in the business.

Jerry, you will not be disappointed in the T2. I have had one for about 3 years and can say that I have never been out without finding good stuff at previously hunted sites. I can say hands down, the T2 is the best detector I have ever owned and I have had all of the Big Guns from all of the detecting companies - even Minelab. Just this past Winter I went with a buddy to a spot around Nashville, TN where he hunted with a Minelab SE. In exactly the same spot a week later after his hunt, I pulled up 6 mini's all at greater than 8". One 69 caliber was about a foot deep. Needless to say, he now owns a T2 along with his SE.

By the way, I have to say one of the things I do not like about the T2, no back light. I always find stuff that I wind up staying after dark. Also, I have found silver in the last 6 or 7 hunts in previously hunted sites. The T2 is probably the best kept secret in metal detecting...
