T2 QUESTION

If im out in the woods with my T2 and there is not much trash if any i usually run my discrimination at 40 because im not really looking for iron.I usually run my sens at 90 in the woods f7.
If i run my disc lower or 0 does that increase my depth?

Why would you run your discrim at 40 if it's pretty clean? The best thing you can do is to probably run your discrim as low as possible. It's nice to know what's in the ground. I hunt in heavy iron and usually run my discrim at 21 or so. Any lower and it's too much for my ears, though lots of guys run it at 0. You get better depth at 0, it has a boost there. As well as at 51.

Run your sensitivity as high as you can go. Word is that the T2 can see into iron even with a high sensitivity, which is the opposite as most machines. I'd really like to know how as I've noticed mine does well with the sens at 90 and in iron.

I'm only a middle user with my T2, there are some guys here that can better answer your question, but you should search the forum as we've talked lots about this topic.

Hey thanks earthman surfer dude..I mean what could you find that reads in the 20-30 range that would be worth digging.
The only reason i would run it low is if it gave me more depth. But i have only had the T2 for a couple of months.I am reallly a beginner to detecting all together but i have made some awesome finds already....But i want more........

Your welcome. Well, for me in iron, it's not that I want to dig targets in the 20-30 range. Actually I never do. But I want to know what is down there. Lots of coins are near iron and if you are not listening for the iron then you might let a one way signal go, thinking it's nothing. If you hear the ground, you sort of see it, and then you might dig something good, as you know iron is hiding a four way signal.

The other reason would be that if a coin is right next to iron the iron will lower the coins signal. This is seldom in my experience, but it is mentioned in those video tests around here (coin on a nail.)

The more you hunt the more you are going to want to know what it looks like down there. (That seems to be the case with all the great detectorists that I've heard from.) I can see me going in that direction with experience.

I usually hunt and accept ALL metal targets, listening for the low-tone from iron, or use only a MINIMUM level or rejection (if a site is really nasty) such that I am just knocking out iron nails. Seldom any more.

I'm honored Monty, guess I'm slowly learning. Speaking of which, I strongly recommend the "Advanced Discrimination" book by Norfolk Wolf. I'm not done yet but have learned a ton! He explains this point very very very well in his book (with pictures!)
Thx for your great posts Monty, keep em coming.

EVERYONE IS MAKING INTERESTING POINTS AND IM PICKING UP LITTLE BITS HERE AND THERE.
NOW YOU MENTIONED ONE WAY SIGNALS I HAVE NOTICED MANY OF THEM.THESE I USUALLY DONT DIG BUT IM UNDERSTANDING IT COULD BE A GOOD TARGET MASKED BY JUNK..WELL GUYS IM LEARNING FAST.
THANKS,JOHN
P.S. SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS LOCK....
