T2 stock coil, 5" coil... & 3rd coil considerations

Herb Jones

I have the stock and 5" coils, is there a third that I should keep an out out for should a deal come my way? What would be the advantages of that third coil over what I already have?

I have the nel sharpshooter on my T2. Its in between the 5" and stock coil, feels like a feather but its robust construction, nice and deep and laser like separation.....really a great coil. New they aren't to expensive so look into that also.

The NEL SharpShooter is a really great replacement as a everyday coil over the stock coil, its just a little bit smaller size wise but depth is similar but much sharper, pinpointing is also very good, one little thing that i find that makes it much better than the stock coil is the fact that the Sharpshooter coil connects to the bottom rod in the middle of the coil rather than the rear as on the stock coil.

Build quality is very good infact they mention that its that strong you can use it without a coil cover,i must admit i never use coil cover anyway except on my Deus and have noticed no wear at all on the under side of the coil.

One coil i would suggest you dont get and that has nothing to do with performance as they can offer greater depth than the stock coil and that is the 15'' coil that is made by the factory for the T2,in theory this coil looks the business ie deep, more ground coverage and made specifically for the T2 and also they are offering it at a very advantageous price when you buy a new T2,one has too think why are they so cheap, the simple answer is they cannot sell them and the reason why is the horrendous weight of this coilMost folks who do buy them usually try them once or twice and then they go on Ebay.I was given a brand new one as the original owner tried it in his home for about 10 minutes and then gave it to me for free, could not undertsand why at the time but when i got it home and mounted it on the T2 it then became a door stop simply because of the weight.

I also use a couple of big coils for the extra depth and these are the NEL Storm and the BIG Nel coil, the Storm is my favourite big coil and is much lighter than the 15'' factory coil by a big margin.
