T2 used in a well worked park with interesting results.

I have been scanning T2 post and I'm trying to figure out how to use the T2 for next month hunt with my brother. My brother Kevin was a Sovereign user and switched to a F75 his silver finds have increased.Last hunt at the WV park the Minelab was unable to keep up with the speed of the F75 final silver count Minelab one silver and F75 eleven. The Sovereign or Explorer is no slouch but this park is wide up ground and a limited time. The T2 was used today at a worked out park sensitivity at 70 and discrimination at 80.Finds for today's short hunt 19 coins 5 wheat's oldest 1920 and a dollar size Michigan State token covered with pitina.I think the T2 will be up to next months task.

Hey Ron you definately want to drop that disc a little. At 80 you will be missing indian head pennies and possibly the old spanish silver.
I would run sens around 85 is usually smooth and disc around 51 there is a little boost..Or so they say.THat way you can get those buffalo nickles..
John

John,I had it set around 40 for the first couple of hunts.I read one of Elton's earlier post and ramped it up just for the heck of it.I was surprised how well this works LOL I know the Indians and early Wheat's would be eliminated.Another problem no pin pointer only an in line probe on another unit I have a Garrett Pro pin pointer coming tomorrow. You ever use the 5 inch coil on the T2?

The spanish silver or Reales i think its a half is very thin and read around 77 or so so at 80 you would be missing those..
I am ordering a T2 se that comes with a 5 soon.I hunt alot of large colonial era woods so im thinking about a large sef coil...

50 and or 51 in disc.setting will get you a bit of a boost....40 will get rid of most iron (Nails) and rusty bottle caps..Run sens as high as practical.. When you increase the discrimination to 50 or more.if it chatters, turn down the sens a little not the discrimination.

Something else..the default pinpoint is 60 on the T2..While pulling the trigger and holding it you can rotate the knob and change the pinpoint Left turn decreases it, right increases it. This has no effect on your detecting sensitivity..it does allow you to get a better pinpoint on the targets setting it to where it works best in the area your hunting. It will default back to 60 when you turn the machine off too...I have found turning it down a little helps me get better center point for digging the initial hole. Then My G-PP does the rest..

Photos of today's hunt.coins and large copper medal that has an inscription "School Spelling Champion" with persons name on back.

Elton,I can see what all the buzz is about the T2.I can't believe the coins missed with the other detectors that have combed this area.I don't even know how to use this unit yet! Results speak for their self. Thanks Ron

May I ask if the T2 works on the beach in the wet sand say mid beach area?
The part of the beach where you dig down a few scoops and there is some water?

Would like to know that before I sell my Minelab

I have not used the T2 at a salt water beach. You may want to keep a dual frequency unit for the ocean. My guess the Excalibur or CZ-21 would be hard to beat in this environment.

If I remember right you like the 1236X2 for iron hunting. The T2 can be made to run "similar" to the 1236. Set it up in the plowed field mode with disc at 21 and see how well it pulls high conductors out of iron. If you get too much iron falsing as non ferrous with the disc at 21 either reset the GB or bump the disc up to 22, that should settle it down. Those settings will pull high conductors out of iron that no other mode will see and will surprise the heck out of you. Dig everyting that repeats even if only from one angle when sweeping.

Tom,1236-X2 is a great detector. It does remind me a little of the older Fisher.Appreciate the information. Thanks Ron.
