target location marker

I was wondering if anyone knew of an app that would allow me to pin locations of targets found and or track my movement so that I can easily see that I have covered every square inch of a field.

Don't know about a app..But a GPS handheld unit will work for you..

Well there is a detector that can do that for you but this is the wrong forum for it :detecting: but then a hand held gps unit is cheaper.

I'm surprised no one's made a iOS or Android ap, would be great to have an off the grid GPS app with accurate target marking. Hmmm......

I use a Garmin Montana with specific location hunting maps on sd cards, amazing topo detail plus a whole lot more. And you can download thru Birdseye imagery Google satellite maps of you choice and time of year, my best example of this is an area with sat photos before and after a fire, the old foundations stuck out like a sore thumb !

all iron,

FYI, the Ground EFX Swarm Series Model MX200E detector has a built-in GPS feature in it's circuitry. An article by Ben Myers on page 20 of the November, 2015 issue of Western & Eastern Treasures magazine explains how the GPS feature works on this detector, as well as it's other features. Kellyco has the machine on sale now for $155.39 (regularly $219.99) and the detector specifications are as follows:

Durable fiberglass & polycarbonate construction
Large, simple-to-use digital backlight interface
GEO-X GPS technology allows saving & locating up to 10 locations
8 metal categories & adjustable discrimination
4 elimination modes
4 HD audio tones
Signal strength & depth indicators in pin mode
Quick release ROD design adds up to 14" external headphone jack
12" DD submersible coil
Built-in LED light

Kellyco is also selling various other models of this detector. To review, click on the following hyperlinked address : http://www.kellycodetectors.com/groundefx/groundefx-mx200e-buy.php

There is an IOS app called 'mapmyhike'. I used it for hiking and its very accurate. I used it while detecting in a big field ONCE here in NC, but stopped using it because it shares the exact location with others that latch onto your activities and then follow you around. Fortunately, the guy I was attempting to exclude from my researched sites let me know he found me while doing a search and said 'i didnt know you hike over there!' I immediately Deleted the app faster than asap!

I do use an app called 'pacer' to monitor my steps, just not the location.

BTW, i really dont think any gps plotting would be granular enough for what you would want to do. There is a built in in-accuracy so the system is close, but not exact.

Thanks for the feedback. I have found a couple of apps that I am playing with. Map marker and trimble outdoor navigator. Navigator seems to do what I was looking for and map marker seems to work for marking target locations. Thanks again.

I like GPS & Map Toolbox app for iPhone. Haven't used for marking targets, but have used over several years for marking hunting locations. Check it out.
