Targets getting detected by coils edge?

I noticed something I think is strange yesterday using my impact with stock coil. When I find a target I noticed that if I wiggle the edges of the coil over t he target, either left or right edge it will detect it. It's not as good of a signal as it is in the center part of coil but it is enough to fool me into thinking there are multiple targets close to each other. It doesn't happen when I pinpoint so I can see it's just one target that way but can anyone tell me if that's just a normal thing with widescan coils? The target I was detecting was a penny laying flat. I need to do some more testing on different targets and small coil to see if it does the same.

It's normal and it happens when you hit a really solid target. I've seen this happen on every machine I have owned at times. I've had 3 blips over 1 target. I've had edge, center and opposite edge of the coil hits. To me it's a sign of a rally strong target whether good or bad.

First, the double beep usually happens when the target is close to the surface. Lift the coil over the target and see what happens. Also, be cautious with targets on the edge sounding and reading higher on the TID meter. Cross sweep and pinpoint you should be fine.
